This summer my book 'Conversations on the Lost Connection with Nature' was published and it has been a whirlwind ever since. I had so many lovely reactions to the book and some great reviews.

A question I'm asked regularly is why a nutritional therapist wrote a book about nature.
There is a simple explanation for this.

Through my work as a naturopathic nutritional therapist, I have encountered quite a number of people who are rather disconnected from nature, with all the health consequences that disconnection brings.

It is not just my clients who have motivated me to write the book. It’s also what is going on in our world right now. As a nutritional therapist I obviously have a strong interest in food. There are many concerns involving our complex food system that must be addressed, like its sustainability, the way we deal with food waste, the control and economics of food production, how food production affects our natural environment, and the influence of food on people’s health. However, it is not just our food system that concerns me. Climate change and sustainability are very much on my mind too.

Understanding the importance of nature in our world and our personal lives is a first step in my view, and this cannot start early enough.

On a more positive note, there are many people who are strongly connected with nature, some of them from as early as childhood. I have been very lucky to meet a group of inspirational individuals, who all, through profession or personality, have a strong bond with Nature that brings them joy and fulfillment. They all agreed to share their thoughts about ‘The Lost Connection with Nature’, for which I am eternally grateful.

The interviews produced twenty-seven fascinating stories. But it is not just interviews. I have tried to pull together fascinating facts and practical advice, focusing on the special relationship we all have, consciously or unconsciously, with nature, the benefits for our health and well-being, and the necessity to restore this lost connection to save our planet and our future.

The book is available on Amazon worldwide and from Balboa Press.
